Calanthe Takane Vietnam Helleborus niger and their nearCalanthe 'Takane' is an easy to grow, beautiful, multi colored, spring flowering orchid that is hardy in the woodland garden to zone 7a! These Japanese hybrids are a seed strain developed from crosses of Calanthe discolor and Calanthe sieboldii. Calanthe 'Takane' forms tropical looking clumps of flat, 8" long x 2" wide, pleated, green leaves. In mid April (NC), the clumps are topped with 8" long stalks of flowers that blend yellow, orange and apricot.
